Is Your Home Appealing to a Younger Buyer?

One of the most challenging things as a seller's agent is explaining how a younger audience responds to homes. Younger home buyers today know what they want in a home and many times are unwilling to do work. They want a home is that is turn key.

Here are 5 winning solutions for you to consider when you put your home on the market:

1. Think Grey. Color...the new wall colors are neutral greys. This is new and fresh! You can never go wrong with warm neutrals as they complement any decor. One of Benjamin Moore's most searched colors is their Revere Pewter. Check out more color trends for 2013.

2. Stainless appliances. This has been trending for over 10 years now and does not seem to be ending anytime soon. So go ahead and update those appliances while you are still in the home so that you can enjoy. You can usually find reasonable package deals on these as well.

3. Kitchen Cabinets. Do you have shiny brass hardware on your cabinets? If you do, you may want to consider replacing these with something more modern such as ones with a nickel or stainless finish. Are your cabinets an older cabinet door such as an oak? Why not try painting these white or an off white? They look terrific and give you a nice update without breaking the bank.

4. Master Bathrooms. Whirlpool tubs used to be all the rage! Now it is larger showers that are glass enclosed and tiled not fiberglass surround.

5. Stone Countertops. Keep it simple. You do not want to go with something too specific and want it to have mass appeal. You may even want to consider a honed granite.

These are proven winners time and time again. Would love to hear your ideas of how you have updated your home!
