Sold! To the Highest Bidder...Back Bay Parking Fetches $560,000
A pair of Back Bay parking spaces sold today for $560,000. Two Commonwealth Avenue neighbors went head to head in bidding with Amy Blumenthal who owns the property next door has the winning bid. The Herald reported last week that the IRS had seized the parking spaces from a tax delinquent owner who paid $50,000 for the spots in 1993. Peggy Riley, IRS spokesperson, said "the taxpayer does have 6 months to redeem the property if they come forward and pay debt."
The record for the sale of single Boston parking spot was set in 2009 with the sale of a single parking space behind 48 Commonwealth Avenue for $300,000.
